Overview
A soft starter is to reduce motor starting current & voltage, protect motor from over-voltage, over-current and phase unbalance etc.
Soft starter has overload protection, open-phase protection, overheating protection, measurement loop parameters and other functions.
- Overload protection: Soft starter introduces a current control loop, so it can trace and detect motor current changes at any time. By increasing the overload current setting and inverse time control mode, it can achieve the overload protection function. When the motor overload, it will turns off the thyristor and send an alarm signal.
- Open-phase protection: While working, the soft starter detects changes in three-phase line current at any time, once the break occurs, it will make a reaction of open-phase protection.
- Overheat protection: Through the soft starter internal thermal relay to detect the temperature of the thyristor radiator, once the radiator temperature exceeds the allowable value, the soft starter will automatically turns off the thyristor and send an alarm signal.
- Measuring loop parameters function: When the motor is working, the detector in the soft starter monitors the running state of the motor all the time, and sends the monitored parameters to the CPU for processing. The CPU will analyze, store and display the monitoring parameters. So the motor soft starter also has the function of measuring loop parameters.
- Other functions: Through the combination of electronic circuits, the soft starter can also achieve various interlock protection in the system.
